Animal Care Committee

The University of Connecticut Health Center’s Animal Care Committee (ACC) is the Health Center's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). The ACC is committed to the humane care and use of laboratory animals. The ACC has oversight of all animal-related activities performed at the Health Center. It is the responsibility of the ACC to ensure that all work performed with research laboratory animals used at the Health Center complies with all applicable federal, state, and institutional laws, policies, and guidelines.

Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International logoThe University of Connecticut Health Center is fully accredited by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) and has been since June 21, 1977. Our last full accreditation was given on July 8, 2010.
Our Public Health Service (PHS) assurance number is A3471-01 and the effective dates are April 27, 2010 to April 30, 2014. Our USDA Registration Number is 16-R-0025.

TOPAZ Training

Please contact Dr. Jim Watras for training on the Topaz protocol management system.  Training on the system is required prior to receiving access to create or submit protocols.
